2021/2022 Academic Year
COVID-19 Update
If you are enrolling to study at Imperial for the 2021/22 academic year we understand that you will have questions about how the disruption caused by COVID–19 will change our operations and processes in the new academic year.
Inevitably, we have had to make some changes to ensure that we can continue to keep you and our staff safe. Our priority is for you to experience everything our campuses and London has to offer. We therefore look forward to welcoming our students back to campus for an educational experience that will maximise in-person teaching and research on our campuses throughout the academic year, unless we are prevented from doing so by UK government restrictions or you are registered on a programme that is designed to be fully remote.
We’re currently making plans for our academic and student experience in three scenarios:
- under minimal COVID restrictions
- under partial COVID restrictions (which allows students to be on campus whilst following guidelines)
- under full COVID restrictions (which means a return to lockdown, should there be another outbreak of COVID-19)
You'll find information on both scenarios and how they will apply to lots of different aspects of student life at the College online:
https://www.imperial.ac.uk/about/covid-19/students/
This information covers a whole range of areas from your learning experience, accommodation and extra-curricular activities to amenities, library services and how we are planning to keep you safe at Imperial.
This information forms part of the core terms and conditions for the 2021/22 academic year.
Your programme will begin on schedule and our campuses are open for students and researchers. We are looking forward to seeing you in person.

2021/2022 Academic Year
The lengths of our accommodation contracts (known as your ‘College accommodation licence’) for the 2021-22 academic year are:
- 39 week licence for first year undergraduates, though you have the option to extend over the summer at some halls; and for undergraduates allocated to Evelyn Gardens
- 51 weeks for postgraduates students at Silwood Park, though you will have an option to take a field trip as required by your course of study
Your licence for accommodation is a legally binding agreement. Please read it carefully; if you require clarification on any point, please contact the Student Accomodation Office at accommodation@imperial.ac.uk.
Imperial's offer of accommodation is made on condition that you have, or will have at the beginning of the Accommodation Period, registered as a student at Imperial College London and remain as a registered student throughout the Accommodation Period.
If you are residing in accommodation outside of the College portfolio, your terms and conditions will be driven by either an estate agent, landlord or private accommodation provider. It is for this reason the College highly recommends that you understand and agree to this before signing any associated contract. The Student Accommodation Office can provide guidance and support relating to any private accommodation enquiry.
