The Student Engagement Insights project is a university-wide project commissioned by the Student Lifecycle Administration Board to provide a solution for Departments to capture and validate student engagement with their programme of study. The scope of the project was to develop a solution that could be used as a tool to support attendance monitoring of timetabled student events. The data captured within the project can provide better insight into students’ engagement and wellbeing.
This project is linked with the My Imperial Campus app which students are asked to download. Personalised timetable information is presented on the app and students are able to check in to their events in their designated teaching space. Bluetooth beacon technology is installed in relevant spaces which validates and confirms that the student has checked in to the expected room based on the timetable information.
The gathered infomation is presented to the Department in order to provide valuable data to be used to support students and improve the overall learning experience.
