Imperial Profiles is a tool that is available to all Imperial staff to create a personal profile. Previously, it has been largely academic-focused, with the main labelling system being ‘Fields of Research’. To make the tool more useful for technicians, a ‘Technical Skills and Knowledge’ label system has now been added.

This list of over 300 labels (e.g. Procurement, Microfabrication, MATLAB) can be used to proudly display technical skills which often go unsung. If enough technical staff engage with this system, it will be able to act as a searchable database of skills within the university, supporting greater cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Editing your profile and Technical Skills and Knowledge Labels

You can create or edit your existing profile on Sympletic Elements, adding as many ‘Technical Skills and Knowledge’ labels as you like. If you wish for your profile to be visible in search results, please switch your Profile Privacy from Internal to Public.

Skills suggestion form

The existing list of skills is finite and not comprehensive. If you notice specific skills or skill areas that you believe should be available, please submit them on this short form. The list will be updated periodically.
